finding your ring size

Rings should sit snug enough that they don't spin freely, but loose enough to slide off over the knuckle without forcing. If you're between sizes, size up.

A few things to know before you measure:

Fingers swell and shrink throughout the day. They're smallest in the morning and largest in the late afternoon or evening. Measure at the end of the day for the most accurate fit. Avoid measuring when your hands are cold, after exercise, or after a salty meal.

Your dominant hand is usually slightly larger than your non-dominant hand. Make sure you're measuring the exact finger the ring is for.

method one: measure an existing ring

The most accurate method if you already own a ring that fits the finger you're sizing.

  1. Place the ring flat on a ruler.

  2. Measure the inner diameter in millimeters, edge to edge through the center.

  3. Find your size on the chart below.

method two: measure your finger

If you don't have a reference ring.

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper or string, about 4 inches long.

  2. Wrap it snugly around the base of your finger. Not tight, not loose.

  3. Mark where the strip overlaps with a pen.

  4. Lay the strip flat and measure from the start to your mark in millimeters.

  5. Find your size on the chart below.
